Crunching gears for a cause

On Thursday a group of cyclists will pass through Krugersdorp in aid of distributing 2 500 Bibles.

Keep a look out for a group of inspiring cyclists as they trek through Krugersdorp on the R28.

From 18 to 20 February the Arole Cycle Bible Tour will see cyclists riding from Johannesburg through to Parys and Welkom and eventually end in Bloemfontein.

483 kilometres will be cycled across the three days in aid of Bible distribution.

During previous tours, the cyclists all rode in aid of Bible distribution.
During previous tours, these cyclists all rode in aid of Bible distribution.

This tour started 14 years ago to raise funds for Bible distribution and was originally held between Parys and Boemfontein. Two years ago cyclists from the Mosaïek Community in Johannesburg decided to add an extra stage from Johannesburg to Parys, giving them the opportunity to join 100 riders from the other regions, culminating in a ceremony at the Bible Society in Bloemfontein.

The aim for the Arola Tour is to sponsor 2 500 Bibles and to reach out to the community.

“In order to plan a tour of this scope, we have a team of dedicated volunteers managing every aspect of this event. We are in need of sponsorship towards the 2 500 bibles as well as corporate companies to get involved in the operational costs of the tour,” Christo Prins, the tour organiser, said.

Anyone interested in sponsorship or taking part as a rider, can join the Facebook page or contact Lizette Driescher on 084 910 7969 for more information.
