It’s on!

After almost two days, power has been restored to Krugersdorp.

It’s day two, and the power seems to be back on.

It seems that Krugersdorpers can now breathe a sigh of relief that their meat won’t go bad.

This morning at 6am, the parts of town that had electricity the night before, had their power cut. But instead of the proposed 12 hour load shedding that was expected, the power was fully restored at about 8am.

• Power still out, what about frozen food?

“It seems that Mogale City’s power is now fully restored,” the Leader of the Democratic Alliance caucus in Mogale City, Christo Peyper, said.

Peyper also said that he wants to congratulate the municipality on fixing the problem “with such functional and rational management.”

According to Nkosana Zali, Mogale City Local Municipality’s spokesperson, Eskom and Mogale City technicians worked the through the night in an attempt to cut short emergency load shedding in the CBD and industrial parks.

“The critical second transformer required to support the feeder through which rotational load shedding was implemented, was fixed and brought back to operation after the system was struck by lightning on Valentine’s day. The city needs two transformers working to supply the industrial parks, CBD and surrounds,” he said.

There is still one transformer not working and it will take longer to repair.

Zali added that the municipality is hoping that, barring any technical glitch, the entire affected area will have power by the end of the day.
