Traffic officers injured in collision

Two traffic officials were involved in a collision which held up traffic close to Leratong Hospital this morning.

This morning a Mogale City Traffic Department vehicle was involved in a collision near Leratong Hospital, holding up traffic from all directions.

Papi Motaung, the spokesperson for traffic department said that just before 6am a female driver drove straight into the Mogale City traffic vehicle.

“The officers were about to put up traffic cones when she drove straight into them,” he said.

The female driver is a licensed, but relatively new driver, Motaung said.

Two traffic officers were injured in the collision. One complained of a back injury and another was still confused after he lost consciousness.

“Traffic department vehicles came out in their numbers to assist us,” he added.

According to Motaung, senior traffic officials are on scene to record and investigate the accident.

Traffic is now also flowing after it was heavily congested this morning.
