Pedestrian dies while dragged under vehicle
A pedestrian was knocked over and dragged underneath a vehicle in an early morning accident.
Saturday morning started off horrific for members of the Community Policing Forum (CPF) after they responded to an accident scene where a pedestrian was killed.
It is believed that a driver of a vehicle was travelling along Van Riebeeck Street when he lost control of his vehicle and hit a pedestrian on 27 February at around 5.30am.

The vehicle then crashed into a lamppost and later came to a standstill some 20 metres further down on the pavement.
The pedestrian’s body was wrapped in a piece of lamppost which was stuck underneath the vehicle.
Patrollers from the Sector 5 CPF received a call-out of the accident close to Jan de Klerk High School at around 5.45am.
On arrival at the scene, the pedestrian was pronounced dead by paramedics.
The Krugersdorp police were called to the scene where a statement was taken from the driver.
The News requested comment from the Krugersdorp Police station’s spokesperson regarding the case opened against the driver of the vehicle.
