Church praises their top achievers

The celebration, which attracted senior government officials, took place last week at the church premises.

Ten members of the Kagiso Baptist Church who are top 2015 matric achievers, were praised during a sermon led by Reverend Tsietsi Zachariah Motaung.

The celebration, which attracted senior government officials, took place last week at the church premises.

Tsietsi opened the service and said, “We are once again giving our young people and church members a befitting send-off. We hope they will do the church and the community of Kagiso proud wherever they go.”

The church’s ‘first lady’, Dr Yvonne concluded the service and said, “It is through the love and grace of God that you are here before so many church members wishing you well. When chips are down take guidance from me.

“I have a poem titled Mommy’s poem, which I always read when I’m down and it motivates me. If you always have God in your hearts, you would prosper in whatever you aspire to do.”

Kagiso Mohulatse, the church educator’s commission chairperson said, “It is an honour for us to appreciate these pupils who are the church’s top achievers. We are blessed to be hosting this event annually and hope these pupils will be role models to the class of 2016.”

Some of the top achievers include Ukukhanya Khumalo, Zwelibanzi Mtshali and Awela Daster. All the pupils were given gifts including books and an undisclosed amount of money to assist them with registration and toiletries when furthering their studies.

Dr Peter Skosana, the Gauteng West District Education acting chief director, author and motivational speaker Peter Tlholoe and Lesiba Seleke, Gauteng head housing project manager also attended the special event.
