One dead on Krugersdorp roads this Easter
The Traffic Department recorder one fatality this Easter, adding it is a decline from last year's fatalities.
Only one death has been recorded over the Eatser weekend on Krugersodorp’s roads, Mogale City Traffic Department said.
Papi Motaung, the spokesperson for the department, told the News that the roads were not as “bad” as last year.
The single fatality was that of a pedestrian, he said.
The Citizen reported that all provinces, except for the Northern Cape, recorded a decrease in road fatalities over Easter. Dipuo Peters, the Minister of Transport, said 156 fatalities were recorded this year, compared to 287 last year. She released the Easter road fatalities yesterday morning (29 March).
“The highest speed record was in KZN. A motorist was travelling at 227 kilometres per hour whilst in Gauteng the recorded speed was 206 kilometres per hour,” she said.
