[PHOTOS] African collaboration launched at Silverstar
Mafikizolo teamed up with African stars to celebrate Colours of Africa, as their new single and music video is rightly named.

After three years of absence from the recording studio, South African acclaimed artists, Mafikizolo have reappeared with the launch of their new single and music video Colours of Africa, held at Silverstar Casino on 20 April.
Mafikizolo’s last album, Reunited, scooped eight South African Music Awards, MTV Awards and Metro FM Awards among many others. The group was also nominated for several international awards.
The single Colors of Africa saw the duo, Theo Kgosinkwe and Nhlanhla Nciza, collaborating with Tanzanian artist Diamond Platinumz, as well as producer, DJ Maphorisa, who has recently worked with artists like Nigeria’s Davido and Wizkid, as well as American hip-hop artist, Drake. On why they collaborated with other African artists, Theo said that by collaborating with these artists, African music will be seen as a united force that can conquer the world.
“Music is the perfect medium to connect people from all walks of life,” he said.

Nhlanhla said she and Theo understood that fans were waiting on a new release.
“We have heard them and we know that they will thoroughly enjoy our first single while we are putting final touches to the album,” Nhlanhla said at the launch.
Theo explained that the new single’s title was chosen because it “talks about unity in our beautiful continent with a very diverse culture. Colours of Africa also encourages the spirit of excellence in the continent to conquer the rest of the world,”
The music video was shot in different locations around Johannesburg and emphasises different cultures, dance moves, sounds and musical styles that reflect the vibrancy of the continent.
The new single was performed by Mafikizolo, Diamond Platinuz and DJ Maphorisa at Taboo Night Club in Sandton on the Friday (22 April) after the release where numerous West Rand artists also were exposed to the big stage.
“We have to give back by helping expose upcoming artists,” Theo, who grew up in the West Rand, said.
Colours of Africa has been released as a single and the album will soon also be released.
