Residents urged to save water as Mogale City battles ongoing supply challenges

Residents are urged to conserve water as MCLM continues demand management measures and tanker deliveries to affected areas.

With water demand remaining high, particularly as the warmer season approaches, Mogale City Local Municipality (MCLM) has provided an update on the water supply situation.

According to MCLM assistant manager for media and public relations, Refilwe Mahlangu, Water Services has continued implementing demand management measures to help reservoirs recover to the required levels.

An improvement has been noted in Kagiso, where the reservoir was at 43% capacity on November 1.

“The situation in Muldersdrift has remained largely unchanged,” she said.

Mahlangu explained that Muldersdrift receives its water from a reservoir managed by another municipality, which has implemented water throttling measures to prevent further declines in reservoir levels.

MCLM continues to deploy water tankers to affected areas upon request from ward councillors.

“If you still have running water, we urge you to limit your usage to essential use only. If you use water responsibly, it will protect the remaining supply and help the system to recover, so as many residents as possible have access to water,” she concluded.
