Police are searching for a man following a rape incident on New Year's Day.

Police have now resorted to appealing to the community for information about an alleged rape incident that took place on New Year’s Day.

The victim alleges that she was on her way to her boyfriend’s place when she noticed a person running towards her from an open field.

“The complainant tried to flee but the suspect gave chase and eventually caught up with her. He was armed with a firearm which he used to force his victim to the open veld between Leratong Hospital and Tshepisong township. In the veld, the suspect robbed the victim of cash and a cell phone before repeatedly raping her,” Kagiso Police spokesperson, Warrant Officer Solomon Sibiya said.

She later went to the police station where she laid a complaint of rape.
