Update: Shopping centre open for business following shooting

The public is once again able to shop at the centre following the shootout this morning.

The Anthos Shopping Centre in Monument is once again open for business following a shootout this morning.

The shootout followed after the hijacking of a British American Tobacco van in Witpoortjie earlier this morning. Three suspects were arrested at the centre, while the rest fled the scene.

A black VW Golf was also recovered at the scene, along with five 9mm pistols and three AK47s. Previous reports indicated that one of the suspects was shot, however local CPF confirmed that the reports were false.

The suspects managed to flee into a field behind Panorama Retirement Village. Police are currently pursuing them on foot and have a helicopter searching from above.
