Milestone birthday for child development centre

It was a delightful morning where all who attended basked in the winter sun while snacking on cheese, Danish and warm coffee.

A groundbreaking early child development programme, which plays a pivotal role in rural communities, celebrated a milestone birthday recently.

Play-With-A-Purpose is unique because it is a development programme that merges a neuroscientific framework with behaviour-based theories.

This combination provides a powerful perspective on childhood teaching and learning.

Course developer and founder of Play-With-A-Purpose, Robyn Wienand, has completed ground-breaking work in the field of preschool education. Together with her business partner Priscilla Dengler, Play-with-a-Purpose has been featured in the media several times – on Pasella, the Alive with Possibility TV series as a Trailblazer, Let’s Fix It and etv’s Great Expectations.

Earlier in June, Robyn (who is also the 2012 TLC Africa’s Woman of the Year runner-up) and her team celebrated their 25th anniversary along with key role players in the community at their premises in Muldersdrift.

It was a delightful morning where all who attended basked in the winter sun while snacking on cheese, Danish and warm coffee.

Lindiwe Tshabalala, Deputy Director and Chief Education Specialist for the Gauteng Department of Education, was one of the dignitaries at the celebratory event. She is also the chairperson of Play-with-a-Purpose Educational Trust Board of Trustees.

During the ceremony, children from the main preschool sang a few songs to welcome guests. Soon afterwards Robyn and Lindiwe cut the red ribbon signifying the launch of Preschools 4 Africa.

“We are happy to announce that we are continuing our mission to provide a quality preschool within walking distance of every child in Africa,” Robyn said while concluding the morning’s celebration.
