Their hearts are in the community
"We do not always realise how fortunate we are and it is important to reach out to others."
A joint venture by Krugersdorp’s Community Policing Forum (CPF) and the local police saw a few elderly people being blessed with some winter warmth.
A group of members of various CPF sectors in Krugersdorp, members of the police and the News met near the Munsieville Police Station recently to kick off a blanket drive in the township.
Krugersdorp CPF Executive Committee chairperson, Gert Jonker welcomed everyone before they hit the road.

Children stood on the street corners to get a glimpse of the procession of vehicles which drove up and down the streets of Munsieville.
The group visited three elderly residents, one of whom is 97 years old, where they personally handed over the blankets with the help of the fairly new Station Commander of Krugersdorp, Brigadier Baloyi.
Members of the police and CPF had the opportunity to work together and to get to known each other better while serving the community.

The group then made their last stop at the Munsieville Care for the Aged where the rest of the blankets were dropped off for redistribution. A total of 273 blankets were collected and donated in this blanket drive.
In a chat with the Krugersdorp Police spokesperson, Sergeant Tshepiso Mashale it was made clear that the hearts of the police are in the community.
“We do not always realise how fortunate we are and it is important to reach out to others,” she said in a casual conversation with the News.
