[WATCH] Local celeb spotted at accident scene

Traffic nearly came to a standstill, not only because of an accident, but also because local celebrity Alfred Ntombela was directing it.

Passersby were pleasantly surprised when they drove past quite a familiar face at an accident scene earlier this week.

A witness, who is also a Sector 3 Community Policing Forum patroller, told the News that three vehicles were involved in the accident. One of them rolled twice, due to the impact.

It is believed a Toyota bakkie driving up Paardekraal Drive heading towards Krugersdorp failed to brake at the Voortrekker Road intersection, and collided with another vehicle, which had the right of way to turn.

The Toyota, with three occupants – one of them a child – rolled twice before coming to a standstill. In the process the Toyota bumped a third vehicle, a VW Polo, with a female occupant.

Mogale City’s Emergency Management Services were called to the scene where they assisted the woman trapped in the Polo. Paramedics from ER24 treated the occupants of the Toyota for moderate injuries they sustained.

Alfred Ntombela, better known as Shorty from the Leon Schuster movies, jumped in and directed traffic after an accident took place.

In the mist of all the chaos, members of the community spotted a celebrity in the middle of the intersection wearing a reflective jacket, busily directing the traffic.

It was non-other than Leon Schuster’s right-hand man, Alfred Ntombela, who is also known as Shorty. Alfred told the News he was one of the first on the scene and always has a reflective jacket with him. He jumped to work to help with the heavily backed-up traffic.

“When I saw the commotion I immediately put on the jacket started redirecting traffic to help emergency services get to the scene,” the Noordheuwel resident told the News at the scene.

Sector 3 CPF patrollers said they were very impressed with the manner in which he handled the scene.
