Elizabeth’s fifth: It’s a girl
Another Burgershoop baby born at home with the help of CPF's First Aiders.
A Burgershoop mother welcomed her baby girl into the world with the help of the Community Policing Forum (CPF) First Aiders.
This is the fifth baby delivered this year by the CPF’s very own baby-catcher, Elizabeth Swanepoel, and Denise Smit from Sector 5’s First Aid Responders.
Yesterday morning, (15 August) CPF 5 received a call-out to a house in Oven Street after a 24-year-old woman had gone into labour.
On arrival at the house, the First Aiders established that the woman was already well into the birthing process, and got ready to catch the little one.
Minutes before 11am, a baby girl, weighing in at a healthy 2,9kg, was born.
After the birth, paramedics from ER24 arrived and took the new mother and baby to the Dr Yusuf Dadoo Hospital for further medical care.
“I am honoured to be in a position to serve my community by being a helping hand. It feels good to help others,” Elizabeth Swanepoel said.
Social media pages on Facebook have been flooded with posts about the newest addition to the community, who will be known as Baby Terblanche for now.
