Rape suspect arrested

A man was arrested for raping a woman and taking her cellphone.

A man was arrested on Monday, 22 August in Kagiso for allegedly raping a woman and stealing her cellphone.

The complainant said that she was approached by four men at the Tshepisong sports ground in the evening. On seeing that they were armed with knives and pangas, she tried to flee, but they gave chase and caught her.

Two of the men raped her and then took her cellphone before ordering her to leave.

She reported the matter to the police and after investigations were conducted, a suspect was arrested.

The suspect remains in detention at the Kagiso police station and will appear in the Kagiso Magistrates’ Court soon.

His three accomplices are still at large and the police are appealing to the community to come forward with any helpful information they may have.
