Nearly 400 arrests made on the West Rand
Suspects were arrested for various crimes during last week.
The West Rand Cluster has achieved numerous successes over the past week with 398 arrests made during that period.
In Kagiso, a woman and her boyfriend were arrested for the murder of the woman’s 10-year-old son. In Khutsong, two men are currently under police guard in the Carltonville Hospital after a citizens’ arrest. They were accused of housebreaking and were found in possession of stolen goods.
Some of the arrests were achieved through joint operations in the cluster where people were apprehended for driving under the influence of liquor and illegal mining.
People were arrested for crimes such as murder, attempted murder, rape, house robbery, theft, assault and possession of drugs and stolen property.
Suspects were also arrested for less serious crimes such as contravening the Liquor Act and trespassing.
Acting cluster commander, Brigadier Sipho Ngubane congratulated the members who were responsible for bringing the suspects to book.
“The West Rand Cluster is a safer place because of the vigilance of our communities and the tenacity of our members who track down suspects wherever they may hide,” he said.
