Robber successfully caught and sentenced

One of the two robbers who ransacked a house and stole items to the value of R235 000 in August 2015 has finally been sentenced to 10 years’ imprisonment in the Kagiso Regional court.
The robbers, one carrying a firearm, allegedly confronted the complainant in his driveway on 13 August, 2015. One of the robbers pointed the firearm at him and instructed him to go into his house.
The suspects then stole items from inside the house before disappearing from the scene. Two months later, the investigating officer, Sergeant Humphrey Mokhitli, arrested one suspect who was then charged with house robbery.
Sergeant Tshepiso Mashele, spokesperson for the Krugersdorp Police said Sergeant Mokhitli is a dedicated member of the police force who made sure that justice was served.
“He spent many hours investigating the case and gathered enough evidence to finally convict the suspect,” said Tshepiso.
Brigadier Baloyi, the Krugersdorp Police Station commander says he appreciates Sergeant Mokhitli’s constant effort and attention to secure the conviction. “He has worked with passion and dedication,” said Baloyi. “This success should be an indication to our community about how serious we are about policing the Krugersdorp area.”
