Child dies in hit-and-run incident
The child was wearing what seemed to be a school uniform and it is believed she was on her way to school when she was run over.
A young girl succumbed to serious injuries after she was hit by a light motor vehicle on the R512 near Lanseria Aairport at approximately 7.40am this morning (7 September).
The girl, who is between six and eight years old, was allegedly crossing the road when the vehicle hit her. The driver of the vehicle immediately fled the scene.
A second vehicle allegedly swerved to avoid her body and landed in a ditch at the side of the road.
The female driver immediately called ER24 paramedics. They assessed the victim and realised she had severe head and chest injuries, and had already died. She was declared dead on scene.

Muldersdrift Police were allegedly on scene.
The female driver sustained minor injuries and was taken to Life Fourways Hospital for further medical treatment.
It is the second time within four days that a pedestrian was knocked down on that road. On Sunday, 4 September a man sustained critical injuries when he was hit by a light motor vehicle shortly before 7am.
