Man gets 30 years for housebreaking
Nearly a year later, a man was finally sentenced to 30 year in jail for several housebreakings.
Nearly a year later, after being arrested on charges of housebreaking, a man was sentenced to 30 years in prison for his crimes.
He was caught in the act by concerned neighbours while breaking into house in Kagiso in February last year. He made a run for it when he realised that he was about to be cornered and left behind a bin filled with the complainants’ electrical appliances and clothes.
Police lifted the suspect’s fingerprints from the scene and after careful investigation, Harry Mongezi Mthombeni was traced and arrested. Warrant Officer Guda’s hard work paid off when Mthombeni was also linked to several housebreaking cases in neighbouring areas such as Protea in Soweto.
Mthombeni was found guilty of several housebreaking incidents and sentenced to 30 years in prison in the Kagiso Magistrates’ Court. “Warrant Officer Guda has done well. Through his outstanding investigative skills and commitment he has stopped this criminal from continuing his evil activities once and for all, and he will never break into people’s houses again,” said Brigadier Sipho Ngubane of the Kagiso Police Station.
