To serve and protect and to do so honestly seems to be the motto of the members of the Kagiso Police after their excellent performance was honoured on Wednesday, 31 August.
During their monthly Imbizo, Kagiso Police’s detectives were voted the best in the West Rand Cluster by the West Rand Cluster commander, Major General Mateisi. They achieved a 99 per cent conviction rate. Kagiso’s Visible Policing unit also took top place in the West Rand for achieving 100 per cent in reaction time and arrests.
Kagiso Police’s station commander, Brigadier Sipho Ngubane, warned his team against corruption. “You might have been corrupt for some time and not been caught, but one day even those who never suspected you will know you because you will be in the negative spotlight,” said Brigadier Ngubane.
Warrant Officer Guda was one of more than 10 detectives who received certificates of appreciation for their commitment, hard work and outstanding investigative skills. He secured a 30-year sentence for a suspect accused of house-breaking, while Sergeant Mosome secured a 17-year sentence for a murderer and Constable Munyai secured a 10-year sentence for another.
The station’s sporting achievements were not overlooked. Sergeant Marry-Jane Khumalo was honored for snatching 4 gold medals as the best provincial athlete, while Captain Matlatle was honored for receiving a gold and and a silver medal for javelin and shot-put at provincial level.
Police members and their commanders were also honored for the outstanding achievements they displayed throughout the month.
