Tax-payers on West Rand paying for mismanagement

For years now, Krugersdorp’s residents have suffered with incorrect municipal bills and very bad, if any, services, according to the Freedom Front Plus councillor for Mogale City, Amanda de Lange.

She said residents are being bullied by their municipalities to pay for services they have not used.

“Affected property owners and rates and taxes payers are advised to verify their accounts before they pay these excessive amounts.

Do not hesitate to contact your councillor to assist where problems are encountered. In-depth auditing of the municipal management system is one of the priorities of the new coalition government of Mogale City.

“As Freedom Front Plus councillor, I will remain involved throughout the West Rand and assist where urgent attention to the accounting systems in the West Rand District is required.

All irregularities will be investigated by the newly elected councillors.”

The West Rand towns have lost millions of rand over a number of years, because of irregularities and fruitless expenditures by the municipal managers. According to De Lange, it’s criminal to waste this amount of tax-payer’s money and to use bullying tactics such as cutting services if residents do not pay these excessive municipal accounts.

“The coalition parties are all in agreement that all irregularities and mismanagement will be attended to and apart from the corrective action that will be taken, action will also be taken against any person guilty of misconduct.”

The Freedom Front Plus gained a councillor in Rand West City (Randfontein and Westonaria) and Merafong City and two seats on the West Rand District council.

“We will make all the candidates’ names and contact numbers available as soon as everyone is in place.”
