Krugersdorp Police are investigating an attempted murder case after three suspects allegedly shot and seriously wounded a security guard in Nugget Street, Wentworth Park at about 2.13pm on Friday, 11 November.

It is alleged that the security guard found intruders in the house he was guarding. It is believed that they were attempting to rob the premises.

The Krugersdorp Police said the security guard was allegedly chasing after three suspects when shots were exchanged. The guard was critically wounded with a shot to his abdominal area. Paramedics were contacted.

“When our paramedics arrived on scene they found the man in a critical condition,” said Athlenda Mathe, the Netcare 911 spokesperson.

The man was stabilised by teams of paramedics from Netcare 911 and Quick Response Service (QRS) and the Netcare 2 helicopter was sent out to transport him to hospital.

The QRS crew transported the patient to the helicopter landing site. The Netcare 2 helicopter landed within five minutes and the patient was airlifted to a hospital in Johannesburg.

The patient remains in ICU, where he is apparently stable and recovering.

The Krugersdorp Police urge the community to assist with information that could help trace and arrest the suspects involved. Information should be forwarded to them on 011 951 1151 or to Crime Stop on 08600 10111.
