Father kidnaps daughter; threatens to kill her
A father is sitting behind bars after he kidnapped his daughter and threatened to kill her and himself.
A father has been arrested in Kagiso, after kidnapping his own daughter on Saturday, 19 November.
The father decided to visit his three-year-old daughter and found her playing with two friends outside her mother’s house. He then left the premises, taking the three children with him. Later, the friends returned, but not the daughter. The distressed mother asked her daughter’s friends where her child was and they described the man who took her.
The mother then called the child’s father to ask where their child was, and he responded by threatening to kill the child and himself if the woman called the police. The 30-year-old father told his child’s mother, who is his ex-lover, that she would never see their child again.
The matter was reported to the police who conducted an intensive investigation until they tracked the father down. He was found with his child at a park in Hospital View the same day, and was promptly arrested.
The little girl was returned unharmed to her mother. The father appeared in the Kagiso Magistrates’ Court on Monday 21 November, and was denied bail.
