Three murders on one day
Police express their concern about the number of murders in the area.
Kagiso Police released an official statement expressing their concern with the number of murders that were committed on Sunday, 4 December.
Community members of the area reported three murders on one day just hours apart.
The first murder was reported at about 11.30am. An unknown male’s body was found in Leratong Village after a group of unidentified men allegedly beat him to death with traditional sticks.
The man sustained numerous open wounds to his body and head. Kagiso Police are still investigating the motive for his murder.
Later that day, at about 5.20pm an alleged murder was committed at Kagiso Mall. It is believed the victim was a resident of Madala hostel. Police discovered a man’s body with numerous gunshot wounds. They found 14 spent cartridges at the scene. Members of the police’s Taxi Violence Unit are investigating the murder.
The third victim was shot and killed at a tavern in Tshepisong West by unknown attackers at about 9pm. The man, who is believed to be a businessman and the owner of the tavern, sustained multiple gunshot wounds to his upper body. Police have launched an investigation to trace the suspects.
“We would like to appeal to the community to inform us if they have any information regarding any one of these crimes,” Captain Solomon Sibiya, Kagiso Police spokesperson said.
