Man allegedly stoned to death by youngsters
They discovered a pile of sticks and bricks covered with blood next to the body.
Kagiso Police arrested three suspects in connection with a murder on Wednesday, 11 January in Tshepisong, one month after finding the victim stoned to death in Kagiso.
On 17 December Kagiso Police members were conducting their routine patrolling duties in Kagiso when they received a tip-off from community members about the body of a murder victim being at the Tshepisong West taxi rank. Police found the body in a pool of blood on Dulcie September Street.
They also discovered a pile of sticks and bricks covered with blood next to the body. The police contacted paramedics who upon arrival declared the man dead on the scene. The victim sustained numerous injuries to his head and upper body. The motive for the murder is not yet known to police, but because of the bloody bricks found on scene, it is believed the victim was stoned to death.
The police launched an investigation and manhunt to track the perpetrators, and followed information to finally corner and arrest them.
The suspects were detained at Kagiso Police Station and a case docket of murder has been opened against them. They are expected to appear in the Kagiso Magistrates’ Court soon.
Brigadier Ngubane, Kagiso Police station commander said community members must always come to the police if an incident like this occurs.
“People must continue to work closely with the police. They mustn’t shy away from reporting such violent and serious crimes because that will make them the next victims.”
