Foreign shop owner escapes death
The complainant moved backwards slowly towards his storeroom and said that he had no cash.
A foreign shop-owner narrowly escaped death after he was attacked and shot by two unknown suspects in his store in Tshepisong, Kagiso.
It is alleged the complainant was in his shop at about 10.30am on Saturday, 21 January, when two men suddenly appeared. One of them pointed a firearm at the complainant and demanded cash.
The complainant moved backwards slowly towards his storeroom and said that he had no cash. One of the suspects fired a shot directly at the complainant.
The bullet traveled towards the complainant’s head, but fortunately only grazed his forehead. The suspects took cash and cartons of cigarettes before fleeing the scene on foot.
The complainant was taken to hospital shortly after the incident took place.
“We would like to advise members of the public not to try and arrest or disarm the suspects as they are perceived to be extremely dangerous,” said Warrant Officer Solomon Sibiya, spokesperson for the Kagiso Police.
