The first national beer day today
While beer drinking is a year-round pastime, nothing quite demands a cold beer like a hot, sunny South African day.
The first South African National Beer Day (#SANBeerDay) is happening on 4 February.
Creator and beer writer, Lucy Corne, explained that the idea behind celebrating this day on the first Saturday in February is simple.
“It is about people coming together to enjoy a beer and celebrate the diversity of beer in South Africa. While there is an International Beer Day, which is celebrated to some extent in South Africa, that is a northern hemisphere initiative timed to fall within their summer. While beer drinking is a year-round pastime, nothing quite demands a cold beer like a hot, sunny South African day.”
Where is the nearest celebration taking place? At the Mainstream Brewing Company in Lanseria from 11am, of course.
To celebrate SA National Beer Day, the Mainstream Brewing Company will be hosting an event consisting of Brewery Tour Packages at their brewery in Lanseria. Tickets are available at the door and refreshments, such as Craft Beer, boerewors rolls and soft drinks will be on sale.
Tickets range from R50 per person for a Tour Package which includes two free refreshments, to a R100 per person Tour Package which includes four free refreshments.
Please confirm your booking on the Facebook Events Page or email your booking to info@mainstreambeer.com.
Remember: Drink responsibly and don’t drink and drive. Get a buddy or Uber to take you home.
