On the ‘Spur’ of the moment

A story with no introduction needed: the Spur incident.

Many members of the public were fairly disappointed and upset about the incident that happened on Sunday, 19 March in Texamo Spur; however the community has once again proven that South Africans turn to the lighter side of life when a serious situation gets too serious.

Since the incident hundreds of memes (funny pictures) and funny comments have surfaced, mocking the entire situation. Funny posts on Twitter and Facebook and hilarious WhatsApp messages all drew the attention of those who were commenting on the situation. Some were quite irritated by the comments, but most of the responses were quite positive. One of the comments was: “Volgende keer as ons Spur toe gaan, sal ons ‘n sambreel moet saamvat, want dit gaan klappe reën.”
