Pay your tax! It’s the right thing to do
By participating in Tekkie Tax Day you will help a local animal shelter.
Are you ready to pay some tax which will actually go towards a very worthy cause?
Tekkie Tax Day is a national fundraising campaign that will be held on Friday, 26 May for a proud group of welfare organisations in South Africa.
These organisations will come together for the biggest campaign of all time. They believe that together they can achieve more than individual efforts combined can achieve.
This year the Caxton West Rand team will participate and the funds generated will benefit The 9th Day Animal Shelter. You can participate too. All it takes is purchasing a sticker for R10 or purchasing funky Tekkie Tax shoelaces for R35 a pair.
The 9th Day Animal Shelter is a rescue, rehabilitation and re-homing centre based in Krugersdorp. It is a registered non-profit organisation founded by Charmaine Booysens in January 2015.
The organisation’s main focus is on rescuing stray and abandoned animals living on the streets and in the surrounding impoverished communities. It provides outsourced medical care, shelter (in kennels and foster homes), and rehabilitation to the best of its limited abilities.
Efforts are made to reach the ultimate goal – a loving forever home for the rescued. The 9th Day Animal Shelter is a pro-life shelter, which means the only time an animal will be euthanised is if a veterinarian determines there is no way to save it.
The organisation has a small, growing team working on a volunteer basis, and relies entirely on the generosity and actions of the public and sponsors. They are ordinary people from different walks of life, working together with a common goal to accomplish extraordinary things.
“The more support we have the closer we get to our vision: to continue rescue operations and give them the best treatment, rehabilitation, and living conditions possible. We’re working towards finding that forever family for every rescued animal in our care,” said Charmaine.
