One dead, another critical in Pinehaven head-on collision
Paramedics were having coffee when a member of the community reported that he had just witnessed a collision.
One person has died and another was critically injured in a head-on collision near Cradlestone Mall on Sunday, 2 April at about 9.45pm.
A group of Quick Response Service (QRS) employees were having coffee at the Pinehaven Sasol Service Station when a member of the community approached them and reported that he had just witnessed a collision down the road.
The crew reported the incident to QRS dispatch and then went to the scene. The crew found two vehicles in the road where the collision occurred. One of the drivers was unresponsive and the other was in a critical condition.
The former was declared dead on scene soon after paramedics arrived. The latter needed advanced life support interventions to be stabilised. QRS paramedics worked quickly to stabilise the patient and then loaded him into the the ambulance.
They transported the patient to a nearby hospital for urgent medical attention. The cause of the collision is still under investigation by authorities.
