Fun and games at St Ursula’s

Almost 5 000 people attended the fun day.

Water slides, burgers and entertainment for the whole family – all of this was to be found at St Ursula’s recent fun day.

The day kicked off with a five kilometre fun run with almost 250 people, young and old, participating. Every learner from St Ursula’s pre-, primary- and high school was involved in the day. Some of the activities included netball tournaments, karaoke, water slides, jumping castles, a haunted house and a large variety of stalls. There was something for everyone.

“This is a yearly institution where friends and family visit the school just to have some fun in the sun,” said spokesperson Andrea Hawla.

The ‘Joker’ could be found in the haunted house.

Almost 5 000 people attended the fun day, and people from all across town could not wait to be entertained. Well-known artist Boki Ntsime, an SA Idols 2010 finalist, also attended the day and entertained the crowd with his excellent vocals.

The News had a blast at the fun day and took a tour through the old mysterious building. Some parents told the News that they had attended the fun day when they were in school and now their children enjoy the fun day each year.

Boki Ntsime was certainly the highlight of the fun day.

“It is a day for us as parents to relax. We do not have to worry about our children as we know that they are safe and enjoying themselves,” said Gift Magaiana.

Some parents also told the News that they like to attend these fun days to bond with their children and to forget about their stress.

“Everyone had a blast,” said Andrea.

No slide was too big or too risky for these children.

The school felt that the day was once again a big success and that it will only get bigger in upcoming years.
