DC of the week: Young man tries to rob store with fake gun
The suspect was overpowered by the community members and he was searched
Police arrested a 19-year-old suspect recently after he allegedly tried to rob a store with a fake gun.
It is believed the suspect entered a shop in Swanieville at about noon. After a while, the shop-owner realised the suspect was hiding something underneath his clothes because they were misshapen.

The owner approached the suspect and wanted to search him. The suspect drew a firearm and pointed it at him. The owner realised the gun was not real and grabbed the suspect’s hand. A struggle between the two ensued. The shop-owner eventually managed to disarm the suspect and screamed for help.
Members of the community responded to his cries and swiftly approached the scene. The suspect was overpowered by the community members and he was searched.

The shop-owner called Kagiso police who arrested the man shortly after arriving on scene.
