Children egg-scape with Easter Bunny’s loot

Counting down – 5, 4, 3, 2, 1 ... let the hunt begin!

Here an Easter egg, there an Easter egg … everywhere an Easter egg!

Twenty thousand Easter eggs were spread over a rugby field and about 1 000 children had less than 30 seconds to grab as many as they possibly could.

There’s just so many eggs!

The Real Life Church’s Easter Egg Dash, held on Monument Primary School’s rugby field, was once again a big highlight for the little ones of Krugersdorp. For the fifth consecutive year, the Easter Egg Dash was one of the most eagerly awaited events the children of Krugersdorp had to look forward to.

With one of Crew’s minions, of Despicable Me fame, Sully, the monster from Monsters Inc, Donald Duck, the Pink Panther and of course the Easter Bunny roaming around entertaining the children, the day definitely put a smile on each and every child’s face.

The whole community was invited and children, from preschoolers to Grade 7s, were allowed to participate in this fun day.

“It’s fun and everybody benefits from this day,” Donald Duck told the News.

The event was organised by members of the Real Life Church in Krugersdorp North. The Easter eggs came from the members of the church and a number of great sponsors.

20 000 Easter eggs were scattered over one rugby field.

On arrival, the children were each given a plastic bag to fill with as many Easter eggs their little hands could grab. The children also had a special surprise with the South African National Defence Force division of Randfontein arriving with Donald Duck and Sully the monster, and after the Dash, some of the soldiers performed a military parade on the field, with the children standing watching in awe.

The countdown began, with the children eagerly waiting for the banners to be lowered to allow them to experience the thrill of the hunt. Then children began running, and grabbed as many eggs as possible, leaving not a single egg behind, and making a clean egg-scape. Within less than 30 seconds, the field was eggless.

With happy faces and full tummies, the children left, content in the knowledge that they would be able to do it all over again at next year’s hunt.
