Cycling for a purpose: join a worthy team
A local old age home needs 20 riders or more from Krugersdorp to ride and represent them.
Are you a cyclist taking part in this year’s 947 Cycle Challenge? If so, then pay attention – the Luipaardsvlei Home for the Aged wants you!
A cycling team representing the home, which is also a non-profit organisation, will take on the Telkom 947 Cycle Challenge again this year, but needs cyclists to join them. This year will be no different as they need 20 riders or more from Krugersdorp to ride and represent the home.
Soldariteit will once again be acting as the main sponsor for this worthy cause. Funds raised with this initiative will go towards the home.
The home offers services to older persons who are still able to care for themselves, to the bedridden and to those who suffer from Alzheimer’s disease.
“A large number of our residents do not have the financial means to pay the required fees and must rely on family members, friends and others. However, some needy older persons have none of these support systems and consequently have to rely on welfare-related services to survive. We would like to raise R50 000 to support them,” said Marketing and Fundraising Officer for the home, Amy de Bruin.
Any cyclist or team who is interested in representing the home can contact Amy on 071 509 3115 or amy.luiptvb@mweb.co.za.
