What Easter is truly about – a Christian festival

Easter is also the time to relax, take a break and recharge for the next season ahead.

It is that time of the year again, when Easter is celebrated all over the world.

Easter is a Christian as well as a holiday festival, celebrating the resurrection of Jesus from the dead, as described in the New Testament.

Most Christians refer to the week before Easter as the ‘Holy Week’. The Easter season begins on Easter Sunday and lasts seven weeks, ending with the coming of the 50th day.

The Bible says Christ died on the cross on Good Friday and came back to life three days later. Through his death, burial, and resurrection, Jesus paid the penalty for sin, thus purchasing eternal life in Christ Jesus for all who believe in Him.

A lot of us may dive into chocolate eggs during Easter time, but eating chocolate eggs and bunnies are not what this day is all about. Among Christians, it is a celebration of Jesus Christ returning from the dead. Christians believe that it is the holiest day in the year. Some people who are not Christians celebrate it as the beginning of spring.

Lent is also being celebrated by Christians. It’s a 40-day period of fasting, repentance, moderation and spiritual discipline in preparation for Easter. Lent and fasting seem to go together naturally in some Christian churches, while others consider this form of self-denial a personal, private matter. Lent is a period of somber self-examination and penitence in preparation for Easter.

Easter is also the time to relax, take a break and recharge for the next season of the year.

Enjoy your well-deserved holiday and remember what the season is all about.
