Vehicle rolls leaving two injured

The vehicle came to rest in a storm water drain with its occupants trapped inside.

At about 11pm last night, 14 April, a motorist travelling on Robert Broom Drive heading towards Munsiville south lost control of the vehicle and swerved off the road.

According to a statement by Quick Response Services (QRS), the vehicle rolled as it went down an embankment and came to rest on its roof in a storm drain. Both the front and back seat passenger were injured and fortunately the driver had sustained no injuries.

QRS paramedics were dispatched to the scene and arrived shortly after Netcare911 paramedics. Both crews worked hard alongside Krugersdorp’s fire department to rescue the patients from the storm drain.

The front seat passenger sustained moderate injuries whereas the back seat passenger had sustained serious injuries and both required advanced life support intervention to be stabalised.

Shortly after the patients were rescued and stabalised, the QRS and Netcare crews transported them to a nearby hospital for further medical care. Authorities were on scene and investigated the cause of the incident.
