Hero paramedic saves man in pouring rain
The patient's heart wasn't beating and he was believed to be dead, but that didn't stop Prinsloo or Netcare 911 from trying to save him.
Karl Prinsloo, a road manager and independent practitioner from the Help24 Group, worked alongside Netcare 911 to resuscitate a man whose heart had stopped and who was believed to be dead.
The incident occurred on Voortrekker Road near Key West Shopping Center on Monday, 10 April. They resuscitated the patient in the pouring rain.

On arrival at the scene,Prinsloo found that the man had no heartbeat. He administered CPR in the heavy rain next to the busy road. As CPR is incredibly tiring, Prinsloo took turns with the paramedics to ensure blood kept circulating the entire time he was there.

They used a defibrillator on the patient three times to make sure that his heart started beating again. ER24 also arrived at the scene and assisted with the patient.
After 30 minutes, the patient finally responded to treatment and was stable enough to transport to hospital.
“It was most definitely a team effort,” said Prinsloo. “We work in the rain, through the night, and like in this incident, in the middle of the road. Nothing stops us from saving lives.”
The patient is in a stable condition according to medical staff. It was later established that he had suffered a heart attack.
Help24 thanked Prinsloo for his effort in the rain and expressed their gratitude that the patient is on the road to recovery.
