We need your help, Krugersdorp!

The News is hosting a blanket-making workshop this Saturday but still needs some help!

The Hande vat vir Liefde project needs the community to step up and help!

The project facilitators are hosting a blanket making workshop on Saturday, 6 May, and are still in desperate need of some donations in order to make it a success. During the workshop, participants will use polar fleece fabric to make knot blankets for the animals at The 9th Day Animal Shelter, which is a nonprofit organisation located in Krugersdorp. The shelter’s main focus is rescuing stray and abandoned animals living on the streets and in surrounding impoverished communities.

The News and the members of the Amandel Aksie group from the Suiderlig church in Krugersdorp West are hard at work gathering funds and fabric for these blankets.

The whole community is invited to attend the workshop, which promises to be great fun. It will be hosted at the church, situated on the corner of Gould Avenue and Herbert Street, Krugersdorp West. The proceedings kick off at 10am and delicious treats and hot coffee will be provided.

Are you interested in joining us? If so, bring the following:

• Polar fleece material (or any other thick material).

• A pair of scissors

• Pins

• A needle

• A quick unpick (aka a seam ripper)

• A ruler

• A piece of soap

If you cannot attend the workshop, why not make a donation towards a blanket? Any donation will be appreciated!

If you would like to make a donation or attend the workshop, please inform journalist Nadine Maré today, 4 May. Send an email to nadinem@caxton.co.za, call her, or send a message by SMS or WhatsApp to 083 959 4906.
