Body found lying on side of the road on Robert Broom Drive

Is this an act of road rage?

The Krugersdorp Police are investigating a case of murder that occurred at the intersection of Van Riebeeck Road and Robert Broom Drive on Saturday, 24 June.

The body of a 30-year-old man was found at approximately 6.15am that morning. Members of the Sector 3 Community Policing Forum and its first aiders were on scene moments after the man was discovered. They secured the area and waited for the police to arrive. Upon further investigation it was established the deceased had both gun-shot and stab wounds to his upper body. He was wearing a security uniform. They found several spent cartridges on the scene.

The deceased was identified and his family was informed.

A reliable police source has informed the News of numerous road rage incidents occurring at the intersection prior to the murder. In one case, two parties got out of their vehicles and wielded firearms at each other. In another case, two parties bumped each other’s car, but failed to stop. The incident continued further down the road and ended in a fist-fight.

It’s not yet clear whether the murder is linked to the road rage cases.

The police are appealing to the community to assist with any information that could help arrest those involved. They can call the Krugersdorp Police on 011 951 1151 or Crime Stop on 08600 10111.
