Police arrest 348 suspects in one week
Some suspects were successfully convicted during the week.
The West Rand Cluster police arrested 348 suspects between Monday, 19 June and Sunday, 25 June.
Two cases in particular stood out – the arrest of two suspects in Magaliesburg and the recovery of a stolen vehicle on Thursday, 22 June.

The Magaliesburg Trio Task team also arrested four suspects on Saturday, 24 June for the possession of unlicensed firearms and ammunition.
Other crimes that landed suspects behind bars were murder, armed robbery, business robbery, hijacking, drunk driving, and rape. Crimes such as housebreaking and theft, possession of drugs, possession of dagga, reckless and negligent driving, illegal mining, fraud, drunk and disorderly conduct were also policed.
Two murders also occurred – one in Kagiso and one in Krugersdorp.

The police did not just arrest criminals, but also successfully convicted some as well.
Midway Bulelane, who raped a 21-year-old woman on 26 July 2016, was sentenced to eight years’ imprisonment recently. The victim reported to police that she was raped by a relative of her boyfriend on that day. She also reported that Bulelane threatened her with a knife while raping her.

Major General Anna Mateisi, commander of the West Rand Cluster, was more than pleased about the arrests and with the community, who worked hand-in-hand with the police to bring the responsible individuals to book.
