Youth art exhibition now on display

A total of 37 young artists' pieces are on show and available for purchase at the museum.

On Wednesday, 21 June, the Mogale City Museum kicked off its third annual youth exhibition for the upcoming Picassos from both Saint Ursula’s Catholic School and Khutsong Centre for the mentally challenged in Kagiso.

The original pieces and sculptures range from abstract, to realistic and even impressionist.

A total of 37 young artists’ pieces are being exhibited until Friday, 21 July, and are for sale to interested parties.

Even though the annual art exhibition has been a tradition for several years, it was only from 2015 that it was thought best to host a separate exhibition for the youth as well.

According to Godfrey Naledzani, specialist for the Heritage, Arts and Culture Section, the museum now hosts two art exhibitions every year.

In celebration of Youth Day, the months of June and July will be dedicated to learners from local schools, and will show off their masterpieces, while the works of local adult artists will be on display in October and November.

If you are interested in buying a piece, feel free to drop by at 31 Monument Street, Krugersdorp and have a look, as the pieces are only on display for the next month.
