Truck and car collide – one dies

Windsor Road was closed for nearly two hours after the collision.

One person died and two others were seriously injured in a T-bone collision at the intersection of Windsor Road and Paardekraal Drive in Krugersdorp on Sunday, 2 July, at about 6am.

A truck and a car were involved in the collision and paramedics were called to the scene to assist the injured.

Paramedics arrived and found the vehicles on the side of the road, still lodged against one another.

The car had three occupants of which two needed to be extricated with the Jaws of Life. Paramedics raced against time to remove the doors of the vehicle and remove the victims trapped in the tangled metal frame.

Netcare 911 paramedics used advanced life support interventions to stabilise both patients before transporting them to hospital for further assessment and care. The third occupant was declared dead on scene.

The occupants of the truck were fortunate to escape without any serious injuries and remained at the scene.

A section of Windsor Road was closed for two hours while the Krugersdorp Traffic Police collected evidence to initiate their investigation.
