Meeting Mel and Gru at mall a huge crowd-pleaser
Children, teenagers and even some of the adults could scarcely contain their excitement at meeting their favourite cartoon characters in person.
Despicable Me introduced audiences to super-villain Gru and his mischievous minions in 2010. Cradlestone Mall hosted two of the most lovable characters, Mel and Gru, introducing them to shoppers and fans of the popular movie on Saturday, 24 June.
To the delight of the shoppers, the duo greeted, hugged and kissed them when they made their appearance at the Ster-Kinekor Cinema on the mall’s second floor.
Children, teenagers and even some of the adults were overjoyed to meet their favourite Despicable Me characters in person. The enthusiastic characters enjoyed the multiple meet-and-greet sessions and everyone had the chance to snap a picture or two with the tall, funny, yet scary Gru and the silly, fun and very yellow minion, Mel.
“The mall was abuzz with excitement as children and adults alike waited for the characters to arrive at the Food Court,” said Najla Richardson, Cradlestone Malls’ marketing manager.
“Mel and Gru were warmly greeted by fans while taking a tour around the mall.”
Despicable Me 3 hit the screens on 30 June and can be seen at Cradlestone Mall’s Ster-Kinekor. The movie promises plenty of plot twists and despicable sibling rivalry.
