Free antenatal classes at Pinehaven Hospital
Netcare Pinehaven Hospital is offering free antenatal classes to the public.
Netcare Pinehaven Hospital has initiated free antenatal classes for the pregnant community of Krugersdorp and its surrounding areas.
The classes began this month and will be held once a week, on Thursdays, until 17 August. The classes are conducted by the Maternity Unit Manager, Sister Davida McBeth, and Stork’s Nest Clinic Sister Martie Scheepers. The objective of the classes is to educate expectant couples or mothers about what to expect and how to deal with and have a healthy pregnancy.
The experienced midwives and registered nurses educate the expectant mothers and answer all their pregnancy- and newborn-related questions, such as childbirth options, bottle feeding and signs of labour. These classes are ideal for first-time parents. Nine couples attended the first class last week, and more people are expected this Thursday.
Ndumiso Pride Sithole, a Client Liaison Officer, said there are also ongoing breastfeeding support groups every Friday from 10am to 11am.
“We are trying to cater for mothers and babies, and increase awareness of the services we provide at the hospital,” said Sithole.
Services provided at the Stork’s Nest Clinic:
• Reproductive health
• Antenatal course
• Maternity passport
• 4D scans
• Hearing tests for all ages
• Well baby and child clinic
• Immunisation and administering of injections for all ages
• Breastfeeding support group
The antenatal classes starts at 6pm and lasts for an hour. Get there 10 minutes earlier to settle in.
