Paramedics stationed at Sasol Pinehaven witness vendor being run over
A vehicle coming down the hill on the R28 towards the N14 drove over the vendor.
Netcare 911 paramedics were stationed at the Pinehaven intersection – the N14 and R28 crossing – on Sunday, 23 July when they heard a collision at the intersection nearby.
They reacted swiftly to see how they could help and found a street vendor (30) unconscious and in cardiac arrest. They immediately started with CPR.
The brakes on a vehicle travelling down the R28 hill had allegedly failed, causing it to crash into another vehicle at the intersection. The vendor, who saw what was about to happen, tried to run to safety but tripped and the vehicle coming down the hill drove over him.

The vendor was loaded into an ambulance and rushed to the Netcare Pinehaven Hospital which is located just around the corner from the intersection.
At the hospital, paramedics and doctors in the Emergency Unit tried everything in their power to save the vendor’s life, but he died as a result of the extent of his injuries.
Police were on scene to investigate the incident and the preceding events.
