A 54-year-old man was critically injured in a collision yesterday, 22 August, when his bakkie collided with another vehicle on the N14 between Krugersdorp and Magaliesburg.
Netcare 911 paramedics and other emergency service personnel arrived on scene and found a woman, the driver of one of the vehicles, with minor injuries. The driver of the other vehicle had however sustained serious injuries and paramedics had to use advanced life support interventions to keep him alive.

Due to the extent of his injuries, the man had to be airlifted to hospital, but first paramedics had to give him analgesic medication to help him cope with the excruciating pain.
A helicopter arrived and landed off the road at a well-known resort about 1km away from the scene.
Paramedics also used specialised equipment to spinally restrict him to prevent any unnecessary movement. He was then transported to hospital by the helicopter.
The cause of the collision is not yet known, but the police were on scene to investigate.
