Woman’s body found floating in Magalies farm dam

"This atrocious act of violence against a female is condemned."

A resident of Kruitfontein was shocked to discover a woman’s body floating in a dam after he stopped there with the intention of going fishing.

The resident contacted police on Sunday, 27 August at 3pm after making the discovery. Magaliesburg police arrived on scene shortly after and started an investigation concerning the body. They in turn contacted members of the K9 Search and Rescue team who retrieved the body from the dam. Once retrieved, police noted that the woman was between the ages of 25 and 40. She had no identification with her and evidence on scene indicated that she was brutally murdered.

Police are urgently requesting any person who might shed light on the identity of the victim or the circumstances in which she was killed to contact the Magaliesburg Police Station on 014 577 5106/5115. Information may be supplied anonymously. A murder investigation is under way.

“The Magaliesburg Police strive to keep both residents and visitors to the area safe,” said Lieutenant Colonel Joyce Julla, the Magaliesburg station commander.

“This atrocious act of violence against a female is condemned. Please assist us in finding the perpetrator(s) of this senseless killing.”
