Leaking water pipe upsets residents
"Should the whole of Krugersdorp first collapse before the municipality decides to do something?"
Recently the News was contacted by two concerned Burgershoop locals regarding what appears to be a specific residence’s leaking water pipe.
According to Anna and Evert te Boekhorst, this leak has, for the past approximately three months, caused thousands of litres of water going to waste.
Even though they have reported the leak to the relevant ward councillor on numerous occasions, they have not seen any municipal worker investigating the leak.
“We realise that a ward councillor can only do so much, and is limited to some extent. That’s why we call on the municipality to do something about this,” Anna said.
Evert, who has lived in his house for the past 68 years, said he was disappointment that the water is allowed to flow down two blocks without any attempt to investigate the cause and subsequently fix the problem.

“Should the whole of Krugersdorp first collapse before the municipality decides to do something? Cape Town struggles with water, and here we are, uncaringly wasting thousands of litres,” Anna said.
Their DA Ward councillor Trudie Naudé said she is aware of this issue and has reported it to the municipality on numerous occasions.
