Horrific scene where the dumped remains of two babies were found

The remains of two babies were found in a basket dumped in the grass next to a footpath.

Police discovered the remains of two babies in Krugersdorp yesterday, 29 August at about 10am after a tip-off from a passer-by.

He informed them that he was walking home when he came across the gruesome scene.

The man showed the police where he had found the remains of the babies in a basket in the grass next to a footpath. All the relevant authorities were called to the scene.

Krugersdorp Police are concerned about the number of cases of child abandonment and concealment of birth being reported to them. “We would like to encourage those who are experiencing difficulties to rather seek help from social workers, churches or anyone they trust to take care of their baby.

Leaving a baby to die is not the answer,” said Brigadier Patrick Baloyi, Krugersdorp Police station commander.

Krugersdorp Police are appealing to anyone who could help trace the person responsible for this crime. Information can be forwarded to them on 011 951 1151 or Crime Stop on 08600 10111.

To help parents who don’t have the resources to take care of their babies, community members can support the News’ baby project named Call of Doody.

Community members can donate baby clothes, products or event old blankets. Businesses can also support the cause and will be rewarded with free publicity in our newspaper.
