[WATCH] Massive fist-fight in Mogale City municipal parking lot
The action cost the taxpayer money because a lot of damage was caused.
Furious members of the public destroyed most of the entrances to the municipal building during the council meeting Wednesday, 30 August.
Windows were broken, a metal detector knocked over and rocks were scattered all over the Mogale City Local Municipal building — this all after a fist-fight broke out between EFF supporters and Red Ants in the council gallery.

FF Plus councillors said they had to duck and dive to avoid furious EFF supporters who threw chairs from the gallery in the council meeting.
“The meeting had barely started when the EFF supporters demanded that the six EFF councillors who voted against the former mayor during a vote of no confidence should move out of the coalition block and sit with the ANC,” said Amanda de Lange, FF plus councillor.
“More than 90 EFF supporters denounced these councillors as traitors and thieves.”
It reached a point where chairs were thrown from the gallery at Smanga Ngubeni, the EFF Chief Whip and five of his councillors. The Red Ant security guards who were stationed at the meeting tried to intervene.
A fist-fight ensued between the EFF supporters and the security guards. The fight was taken outside and continued in the parking lot.

“The groups beat each other with rocks and sticks. The barbaric behaviour displayed by the EFF supporters is unlawful, especially in a council meeting. Members of council must be protected under all circumstances and the FF Plus will discuss this action as well as security measures with the mayor.
“These actions cost the taxpayer money because not only were the chairs ripped from the floor, but a large glass door was also destroyed.”

The situation was worsened by Patrick Lipudi, current mayor of Mogale City, when he allegedly congratulated the EFF councillors for their undying support during the recent budget meeting.
“The coalition party cannot function under such circumstances and management will make all efforts to intervene in the EFF,” said De Lange.
